Hello from the M.A.R.S. Rovers! We are a non-profit FIRST FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) team made up of students from North Muskegon, Orchard View, Reeths-Puffer, and Oakridge schools, as well as homeschool students. Once a year we are given six weeks to design, build, and program a fully functional robot to compete in a series of sports-like competitions. The rules of the game are unique to each year, requiring us to build a unique robot each year.
This FRC team is our team for high school age students, but we also have an FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) team for junior high students, and an FLL (FIRST Lego League) team for elementary and middle school students (grades 4-8). In all these teams, students learn and practice science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to construct a robot designed to complete specific tasks. Along the way, they learn skills of teamwork and good sportsmanship.
